World Architecture Day, 5 October 2015: Architecture, Building, Climate Commitments and solutions

The International Union of Architects (UIA), representing the world’s 1.3 million architects, has announced the theme of World Architecture Day (5 October 2015): Architecture, Building, Climate.

As the world’s national governments approach COP 21, the international climate treaty negotiations taking place later this year, the UIA will join with national and regional architecture organisations to highlight the essential role of architecture, design and town planning in reducing associated greenhouse gas emissions.

UIA members, working bodies and partners will mobilize on 5 October to promote actions and solutions that apply the enormous power of architecture and urban design in coping with global climate change, one of the greatest challenges of our time.

Leading a series of events and sessions devoted to responsible design, planning and building, the UIA will underscore the contributions of architects worldwide during the COP 21 meetings (Paris – 30 November-11 December 2015).  A delegation, led by the UIA President, architect Esa Mohamed of Malaysia, will represent the profession.
